HISTRA (HIStoria de la TRAducción)

HISTRA tiene su origen en el archivo compilado por el Dr. Santoyo Mediavilla, investigador experto en historia de la traducción. Se trata de un catálogo manual de referencias bibliográficas de traducciones al español de obras en lengua inglesa, desde el siglo XVI hasta la década de los ochenta del siglo XX que reúne datos dispersos, en su mayoría, no fácilmente localizables y, en muchos casos, de acceso problemático o simplemente no disponibles en otras fuentes. Partiendo de este valioso catálogo se ha emprendido en la Universidad de León un proyecto que aborda la creación de una base de datos sobre traductores y obras traducidas, con acceso desde campos diversos, lo que le hace especialmente útil y versátil.

HISTRA se concibe como un recurso electrónico para la investigación en la Historia de la Traducción, posibilitando el desarrollo de estudios sobre la recepción literaria de obras traducidas del inglés al español, de autores y traductores. Permite igualmente emprender estudios de carácter diacrónico en las áreas de edición, ascenso de nuevos géneros literarios y usarse como un instrumento más de análisis de las demandas cambiantes del público lector, entre otros.

HISTRA (HIStory of TRAnslation)

HISTRA originates from the archive compiled by the distinguished researcher in the history of translation, Dr. Santoyo Mediavilla. It is a catalogue of bibliographic references of translations into Spanish of works in English, dating from the sixteenth century to the nineteen eighties. It comprises disparate data which, for the most part, are not easily traceable and, in many cases, difficult to access or are simply not obtainable in other sources. Based upon this invaluable catalogue, the University of León has initiated a project for the creation of a database of translators and translated works, accessible from a range of fields, thereby rendering it especially useful and versatile.

HISTRA is conceived as an electronic resource for research in the History of Translation, serving to facilitate the development of studies related to the literary reception of works translated from English into Spanish, of authors and of translators. Likewise, it facilitates the undertaking of diachronic studies in the fields of publishing, emerging new literary genres and, inter alia, as a support in the analysis of changing readership demands.
